You’ve got to earn my affection. Put your back into it before we get this show on the road.
Don’t make me lose all my self respect. I ain’t desperate yet, so come on now.
Stop actin’ out, and act like you know.

Part 1: Put Your Back Into it
Spare your
canned pet names
and calculated gestures.
My ears are full.
Your insincere affection
makes me queasy.
I never asked for it.
Unfelt, I could go without.
I'm not impressed.
You think I'm easy
to get to.
Did you look
or are you just
nearsighted?
When will you notice
I'm not that chick?
You know the one
that doesn't need
the the effort
of a phone call returned
or depth seeing past carnal chemistry.
One that cherishes
every word you say
without a closer look.
One that you get
wrapped quickly around your little finger
when you know damn well
it should be the other way around
(at least for a little while).
She'll accept what comes
or what doesn't,
but will never feel truly wanted.
She'll stay
Believing she can't do better,
afraid to be alone.
Are you nearsighted...
I'm not looking for a warm body
(Plenty others are willing
to be just that)
and pseudo-emotion
isn't my thing.
I'm not that chick...
I'd sooner be just me,
doin better than fine.
I want to cater 2 u
but not until you take the lead.
Seek me
Want ME
Stop sitting on the bench,
you're losing miserably.
Actions speak louder,
and right now
all I’m hearing
is nothing.
