Ok, so yesterday was Xmas Eve. I had misunderstood. Dad DID come with my sister and I to see Grandma. He just had me to drive. It was a little scary/weird at first, but then I got the hang of it. The roads are so different out here in comparison to ATL and all the other places I've driven...plus they're BUMPY. Well Grandma loved her present (a prayer box bracelet) I saw my cousin Dougie whom I haven't seen in years. He's grown and gone now doing big things. I met my cousin Jordan's lil boy, and I'm lookin forward to seeing my cousin Fallon's lil boy. I feel so old.
Ok...BAH HUMBUG!
So, Christmas started off as a beautimous day. I woke up around 1:57pm Central (wasn't like I felt as if there was anything to look forward to). When I finally woke up, I read my bible, the devotion I forgot to do yesterday, devotion for today and then Luke 2 to remind me of the reason for CHRISTmas. After reading, I grabbed my Dad's present and took it to him (The Matrix) he liked it! Then I grabbed my presents outta the front room and brought them in to where my dad was and started opening them and my sis and her mom came home (I gave them their presents). I got purse with my initial on it, a black turtleneck sweater with the snap fold-down neck, Mya's "Moodring" CD and a red zip up hoodie with a rhinestone "C."
So then I got dressed and we ran over to auntie Fessie's picked up Pralines and presents, ran back to the house so we could exchange gifts with auntie Jen and family. Then I sat down with Dad and we started Watching "King of Kings" a really long story about the life and teachings of Jesus, but it's nice to see what you read be reinacted.
(to be continued... allergy meds kickin in and i'm drowsy)

This blog started as a merging of three separate blog sites containing entries written as far back as October 30, 2003 when I wrote my first blog. I'm taking a chronological look at my digital verbal life... next step will be to import handwritten journal entries for analysis.

Sleep the day away...
Today I woke up on my own at a quarter to noon BUT I couldn't find the strength of will to get out of bed then, so I ended up staying in bed until 2 this afternoon. I read, and then I went straight to the shower then I ate my last PRALINE (oo I can't wait until Christmas). After that, it was basically laying across the couch the rest of the afternoon watching TV with my sister. I really did not feel like going anywhere so chillin was cool. I'm still feeling like I'm getting a little sick-ish, but I actually feel better today. I love my immune system. I guess the only thing that's going on with me right now is that when I sneeze my throat hurts and I am slightly congested.
When my dad came home my sister and I dragged him to the grocery store for bacon, fruit snacks and other random items that don't go together...o yeah, MANGOES my favorite! I found out that I will be driving to Gulfport to see my grandmother and cousins on Wednesday along with my sister. I don't know why I'm so apprehensive about driving. I guess I'm a little disappointed too that my dad can not go. That has been an annual trip for the 3 of us since I was very little, so that kinda sucks, but I know that he needs to work that day...sigh. I'll get over it though.
I talked to my person today. It made my day because he made me feel better. I miss being able to talk to him whenever I want to, but time apart is good too. Absence makes the heart grow fonder; I know it does.

Llegué a la casa de mi Padre hoy
(continued from "Viajaré a la casa de mi Padre hoy")
"Thank you, Buh-bye now, Take care, Come back and fly with us again!"
That's what I heard when I stepped off the plane today and into the New Orleans Airport terminal. Why did those adieus become such tradition? Do the flight attendants really mean it, or are they numbed after saying each phrase its 20th time. Once would be enough for me. That's just a thought though
anyways...
Well, after another blessed year, here I am again in the Big Easy, the Crescent City, that 504 New Orleans. When I stepped off the plane, my sister had on a vintage sweater similar to mine with the colorful stripes (which caught me unwanted attention later on today) and the zipper, but since mine was more loose, it was more recognizant of those sweaters Mister Rogers used to wear on his show :) The car ride from the airport to the house was long and quiet, almost uncomfortable. I didn't talk because I was worn out, maybe Dad picked up on that. Maybe he was tired too. I was a little disappointed when we got to the house and dad said he had to go back to work though. I guess i didn't get to mourn for too long because my stepmom said that magic word, "mall." Me, Shamonique (my sis) and Tiffany all ate spaghetti with meatballs and just before dinner I gave Shamonique her sweet 16 bday, even though she will be turning 17 a year and a day after Christmas (Jan 26 for you slow ones...). I got her a prayer box necklace (shaped like a cross) and a ring that looks princess-inspired. Both of the articles were symbolic, so we had a brief sister to sister chat about those.
(Side note: Before I left home, my mom and stepdad gave me my Christmas presents and among them was a prayer box necklace that matched the one I gave to Shamonique...ok, so mom kinda bought Shamonique's too, it's all good. I bought the ring at least...lol.)
Ok, so I went shopping with Shamonique and her friend Tiffany, but I ended up being by myself because I was looking for different stuff. I bought myself two really sophisticated looking knit turtlenecks (beige and red) and then I bought Alicia Key's new CD THEN I bought 2 presents: For my dad, I bought the original Matrix DVD and for my stepmom I bought a cute knit turtleneck with cute little knit designs. I hope that she will like it. Unfortunately, I was in the mall wayyyy too long, cuz I am sick and I shouldn't even be awake now. I shoulda been had my behind in the bed. I need some self control. But I dragged around the mall even though I was/am worn out. I'm bloated, so every pair of pants I tried on and every time I looked in the mirror today I was like "Ewww...BLEH look AT the FLAB!!!" My person says I'm tripping, but it's Atkins for me next semester. I don't know if I can do it though, I love carbs way too much. After we got back to the house, Dad was here, and he took me and Shamonique to get poboys (we both got shrimp) and of course I threw in two Pralines (my favoritest candy EVER... if you don't know about them YOU need to FIND OUT). The rest of the evening is virtually eventless though, basically watching TV and talking online.
A highlight...
I would like to take this opportunity to talk about my person... I just want to thank him for continually showing me more about Jesus and making me accountable for my actions and showing me what it means to be a Christian through his active examples, for supporting me in everything but always making sure that I'm leaning on God and not him, for always being sweet to me and putting up with my ways (especially my random edginess) and encouraging me and "calling me out" when necessary... You have been a blessing to me.

Viajaré a la casa de mi Padre hoy
So... I'm going to my Dad's today. Leaving ATL in about 12 hours or so 9 (I'm in AUG right now, barely awake). i've been doing this Xmas in New Orleans thing for about 14 years as of now. I love my dad and sister, but I'm starting to not feel the whole always having to travel during Xmas thing. It's bad enough that I'm in that college stage where going HOME means packing something up anyway (even if I literally lived down the street). Enough griping though. I'm not trippin about going anymore. I'm at peace with it. I miss my dad my sis and my city... the FOOD the people the history. It's all love.

Fall 2003's OuTcOmE
How did this semester turn out?!
Well after studying my behind off for my hardest final, Linguistics ( I technically needed a 195 out of 200 to get a B in that class) God hooked me up with a B in the class. I met up with the teacher a couple hours before hand, got a little help and the part that had once confused me, I regulated on it so that was my miracle final and the only one I'm actually PROUD of.
As for the other FINALS:
Spanish: was like a normal test or "prueba" it wasn't even cumulative. It only covered Chapter 4!!! But HEY, who is really complaining. I know I'm not.
African American History: If you get to take African American History before (or after) 1895 with Prof. Alexander...JUST DO IT. It was an easy A...yes I wrote six papers, but if you are black, they are just "gut" papers based on knowledge of your heritage and your opinions on race relations of the past and present. That A was all to the good and no sweat. :)
Science, Technology and Modernism: I loved the class cuz the material was interesting and the underlying concept of modernism is simple...therefore the "final" only took about 10 minutes for me to take, but I do think it was fairly easy for most. Take that class with Prof. Leland. It's interesting. I LOVE my major.
OK, having said all that. I'm so excited about the semester to come. That Spring 2004 will be off the rip. Everything will be so fresh and I'm focusing on my mind, body and soul: Coming closer to God, eating healthy(-er) and exercising, and being on top of my school work fa sho. I will certainly be praying for direction in everything because my educational and professional plans seem so tentative after I get my Bachelor's Degree. I feel like I'm just wafting in the wind sometimes. I dunno. I still got time. Everything doesn't have to be planned out now... even though a lot of peeps feel that all of that is necessary. I'm just going to make sure I do my best in my classes from now on and the rest will fall into place. I just need to be aware of opportunities, I know God has my back so I'm going to be alright.
END!!! (u ever seen cow and chicken...oo i love cartoons)

fReAkIn INSOMNIA!!! Parte Dos
My mind never shuts up to let me sleep...heck, it never even lets me stay awake peacefully. Constantly I have thoughts on the brain, maybe even worries. I guess I just don't want to look back and regret my sophomore year here at Tech (even though sometimes I regret coming here at all). Right now I'm on this kick about hurrying up so I can graduate ASAP and I think I probably will get the hell on and get my Masters at a liberal arts school. Masters in what? Who knows, but Crystal is certainly teched out. On a lighter note, I love my major. STaC is beautiful, I don't see myself doing any of the technical stuff that goes along with it, but I'm sure I'll figure out how it can work for me.
I should try to go to sleep now, its about 1:40 in the morning and I have to be somewhere for 9 to get help for Linguistics at 11:30 (don't take that class). Maybe my thoughts will chill out long enough so that I can relax and get a little rest before my linguistics and modernism finals. Then after that...... FREEDOM!!! I plan to do ABSOLUTELY nothing for an extended amount of time and enjoy the fact there is absolutely NOTHING that has to be done, except maybe packing, but that's brainless.

Dejáme en paz
If I have learned anything, it's that you simply can NOT please everybody. That doesn't mean I'm going to stop trying, but now I know when to give up...and I have.

bleakness
Oh life, why do you continually disappoint me when you insist on capitalizing on that element that makes YOU tend to SUCK?!
Assuming that someone read my profile sometime this morning, everyone must have thought that I was just playing when I asked people to call me if the away msg was up past 10 a.m. Consequently, I did not wake up until umm 1 this afternoon and it took me all day to finish my paper/project even thought I swear I didn't have that much to do when I went to bed last night.
I hate the fact that finals exist. Also I don't think I like this school anymore. I keep kickin myself in the butt because I didn't go to an HBCU. Maybe if I didn't feel like the lone ranger most of the time, I'd feel differently. Oh well though. Well its past bed time. I pray that I can wake up in time enough to get my paper to Skiles 4 noon. If not, there goes my grade.

INFERNO
Yay! Caldwell has heat now. YAY! No more freezin my butt off wrapped up like an eskimo just to lay down and go to sleep. The war against the cold is over. I used to say I'd rather be extra cold than extra hot, but I've changed my mind. It really sucks being cold ALL day and to come to a room that is not a refuge from the chilly winter weather. I was literally cold to the bone yesterday. Now I'm paranoid about turning the temperature on the thermostat down too low...and I keep imagining that I feel cold air. Clearly I'm tripping. It feels like the tropics up in here now. :)
I was called something new today. Robocrystal, maybe I am lame for thinking it's as funny as it is, but one would have to understand the context to enjoy a genuine laugh. I guess it's merely another inside joke.
Ooh I just came up with a quote:
True compassion is not selective.

FrEeZiN!!!
i haven't spoken on here in a long time, so here i go... ummm first and foremost it is COLD up in Caldwell. there is no heat so i'm wondering what the problem is and its like in the 30s outside. this is not going to work at all. i have on jeans and sweatpants, two sweaters with a t-shirt under them and my behind is still cold. i'ma put gloves on before i crawl into bed too.
well anyways thanksgiving...hmmm it was ok. the food was good as usual...but as usual being out in the country made me sneeze. it was really great to see all my fam: most of my cousins, aunts uncles and my granmom who is 83 and grandad who turns 90 this friday dec. 5. we had a bday party for him saturday night and about 100 people came and we left the mic open for people to come up and say things to my grandad or about him (this lasted for about 3 hrs). everything was cool, but then grandad mentioned the death of my youngest uncle, keith (died aug 3 2000 when he was almost 33) and grandaddy just broke down mid-speech and started crying and i had never seen him cry before so i started crying and so did my sister and a lot of my other cousins, that was kinda sad... BUT i recovered by going to go get some cake shortly thereafter which made me feel a little bit better.
at any rate, we stayed in mississippi a little too long this time because we ended up coming back with the thanksgiving traffic and when i-20 became a parking lot a half hr west of birmingham i was a little mad because i was trying to get back to campus and see my person and get a little work done (seeing as how i do have a spanish presentation tomorrow and i have a research paper due on monday) but yah kno, that didn't happen so i ended up getting the presentation together in the car and in ruby tuesdays while we were waiting on our food, which was good.
when i finally got back it was 10 and my parents still had two more hours to drive and then work in the morning. i hope they made it back b/c they didn't call me to let me know anything. my person came over to visit me while i was unpacking, but now i'm still upset because the room is really really cold and there is nothing i can do about it besides whine, but i'm going to be ok...lol and that was my day. :)

*VeRbS*
I heard two interesting verb tenses tonight:
1.glew (v)- the past tense of glow
When I was at Destinations tonight, the MC was talking about toys that we had when we were younger that used to glow in the dark. Then that man said yeah,"they glew." He got clowned for making up a new word when he knows it shoulda been glowed, but I just thought it was funny I will have to use that.
2. shat (v)- the past tense of sh**
I was talking to Vicki and telling her how these birds attached my car with doo the other day making my car look like it was polka dotted and she was like, "yeah that happened to me one day. These birds 'shat' all over my car." I'ma have to use that one too. I never thought about that. Why isn't the past tense just "shat?"

Thumper's Lesson
Ok so you remember Bambi right? (The correct answer to that question is SUPPOSED to be yes) At any rate, Bambi used to be my favorite movie when I was in kindergarten and one of my favorite characters was Thumper, the bunny. To make a long story short, Thumper was taught a lesson that I need to learn. He was being mean one day and his mom said "If you can't say nothin' nice, don't say anything at all." That should be the underlying principle for this journal. I never intended to hurt people, but I always end up doing so. I'm going to make sure that what I say on here doesn't hurt anyone anymore...that's all for now, I'm ULTRA late for Psych 1000 and I'm supposed to be the role model Team Leader...lol. In the words of Micah, "Ciao!"

Suga Suga
"You got me lifted shifted higher than the ceiling,
And oo wee its the ultimate feeling.
You got me lifted feelin so gifted.
Suga how you get so fly?
Suga Suga how you get so fly?"
That's from my song of the moment (as in right now, today) "Suga Suga" by Baby Bash. How has Crystal spent the last hmmm 5 hrs? With the exception of going to Woodies, I've been doing my hair and otherwise downloading music and watchin videos on Launch.com. Don't worry, I'll pay for it later definitely, but later is not now and here I am writing in this journal.
Today was merely a continuation of the patch of gray that has become my life recently, but I know things will get better. If the sun came out, it would certainly help though. Each day it becomes a little harder to smile and all I want to do is stay up in my room and sleep mostly. I guess the best way to look at this whole trial is as a bonding experience for me and Jesus. A few weeks ago at church we talked about God's Sustaining Grace and two of the verses that were mentioned are helping me get through my issues right now:
"So we don't look at the troubles we can see right now; rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen. For the troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever."
2 Corinthians 4:18
"Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me,'My Grace is sufficient for you, my power is made perfect in weakness.'" 2Corinthians 12:8-9
So basically I learned that we are closer to God when we are at our weakest because we lose our false sense of security and realize "oh yeah, I still need Him." I also have to put what I'm going through in perspective, the world is certainly not ending but I guess sometimes it seems as though my world is. I think that recently I have been searching for a new way to relate to my environment because the old ways don't hold up anymore. I'm a completely different person. I see my situation as an opportunity to place more of a focus on God, and I know this won't last forever (sometimes it's easy to forget that tho).
Enough about what's wrong in my life, lets switch it up a little. I finally had some fried chicken after months without it. Popeyes came through yesterday :) I can't believe the semester is almost over. I need to be working a little harder on my research for this paper AND I have a group project/presentation due in Spanish next Monday not to mention the 4 finals I need to study for and the Individual presentation I need to prepare for Spanish. That sounds like a lot right? Well maybe not, I'm not even going to act like school has me stressed. I'm a STaC major and we actually do work, but I'd rather do liberal arts-ish stuff any day before I try to solve an equation. All of my finals are going to be okay except for Linguistics and I have to ace it to make a B in the class, so I just need to make things happen. We'll see though...
Enough babbling, I'm going pry myself away from the computer now so I can stop with this boringness. Maybe I will have something interesting to say the next time I decide to write :)

My bad...I forgot
Daggggg... It's been a week since I wrote on here. That's crazy. I mean I hadn't planned to write every day, but WoW a WEEK. Anyways, today has been productive until now. Also, I'm in a slightly bad mood. I'm getting tired of people (well one person in particular) questioning and analyzing every decision I make...but I think I handled it fairly well today. I didn't blow up or anything. Enough about that.
Productivity. I was in the library this morning after Spanish class for 4 hours researching for my paper that's due in 3 weeks (if you include this one). That was a MAJOR improvement for me because I never do stuff early. Oh yeh and my paper that's due on Friday, I nearly finished this weekend. I'm on a roll. But yeh the research paper I was researching for is over a whole decade and I need 5 pages single-spaced of text from sources talking about the Roaring 20s (cuz that's the decade I chose). Then I will need to write 3 pages ONLY 3 pages DOUBLE spaced in analysis of the things that were going on in the decade. I have no excuse to not do well on that.
Anyways. In spite of what all is going on with me, I remain a happy chick because I know that sacrificing things for God yields blessings and all of this will pass. It's just difficult to let go of something you have wanted for much of your life when it's ALL around you. Oh well, that's just life and I'll deal. I've been repeatedly told that I don't know how to be alone or I can't handle it and that I rely on people too much when I should rely on myself. My answer to that is I rely on God, people tend to fail you even when they don't mean to. As long as God is with me, I will never again know what being alone is like.

FREAKIN iNsOmNiA!!!
WoW its been a long time since I've written on here. I figured now is a good a time as an because guess what? I can't FREAKIN sleep. This crap always happens to me at the wrong times, but at least I was semi productive today and class doesn't start until noon, which unfortunately is nine hours from now and that's about how much sleep I actually need.
Tonight my person upset me and I almost went to be upset over something trivial, but I swear that's not why I can't sleep. My dumb behind drank coffee in the dining hall during dinner, so now this is payback. Ms. Peaches is off the chains she be hookin a sister up. I am MAD however, that I missed FRIED CHICKEN today. WTF?! of all days I don't go to eat early I miss an opportunity for real food? Why me?
I spent all of today asleep with the exception of my class at 9 in the morning. Then when I finally woke up I had to call UPS about sending Cicely her package that shoulda arrived on her freakin birthday...got a little crunck with the man on the phone, but he was nice so I calmed down a little bit. My mommy and Miss Tina love me! They sent me a care package and I got it today (snail US mail). It had all kinds of goodies in there. All stuff I like. They were right on point because a sister was stright starving for a while, no food, no money. It's cold in here so I guess I should crawl back into bed now. Ciao!

Cambiar
Since the previous journal was a little hype since I was so mad about the events of the day, I figured today's entry needs to be mellow. Contrary to that entry I'm still a happy chica. Also, one of those situations has worked out and I didn't lose a friend over it.
I'm in a good mood right now, because I just finished my African American paper that is due tomorrow, so my weekend has officially started as far as I'm concerned. I'm in my hideout right now. It's like my bat cave. I come here to escape to comfort and be away from things that annoy and bother me. I have really been going through some things lately and I feel like I'm just rebelling from much of what I used to believe was important and how I used to act. I guess part of it has to do with how I was treated by some folk earlier this year, but I just have my priorities straight now and I no longer care about what's going on with everyone else cuz I have my own agenda. I'm discovering the kinds of things I like to do and parties aren't my thing anymore. I just don't feel them like I used to. This all feels very weird tho, because anyone who knew me last year can tell you that I was gung-ho about going to almost all the parties and being as social as possible. Now, no one knows me anymore. I like it this way, I want to blend in and eventually emerge as who I really am because no one knows who the real Crystal is. I have the feeling that most people at Tech will never know who the real Crystal is, but I don't care because that's not important. Many people say that college is a time where you find yourself as an individual, well this year I've delved into that definition and things about me are certainly changing, but I'm not the one changing them. I feel as tho God is slowly tellin me who he wants me to be (well at this point He's showing me who he doesn't want me to be). He's stripped away a lot of elements that used to be prominent in my life and its a weird feeling, but I know that He has everything planned out. I'm happier now because I know he's the only being I have to answer to and I don't have to be anyone or anything in particular for anybody else...

I Knew You Would Be
Today was a good day (been havin a lot of those lately, its an epidemic). I decided to go to church. I was not going to go, but when I was asked what time I was leaving (assumed that I was going) I had to rethink my decision...especially when the question was posed "why not?" I just thought about all the stuff I break my neck to do, get food, go to the mall, get my hair done. I can do all of those no matter how tired I am, so then there can be no valid enough reason along those lines to NOT go to church and be fed spiritually. Having thought all of that, then I couldn't just allow myself to stay in the bed, my conscience wouldn't let me. Basically I pulled myself outta bed, and got my church clothes on to go to Destiny. I pulled into the parking lot and sent my person a text message saying, "Im @ Destiny." and he hit me back saying, ":)I knew you would be." When I got there I felt alone (because I was). I always do, but hopefully from now on I will have someone to go to church with me. On the other hand, I think going alone might be a good thing for me, cuz then maybe I'll step outside of my shell and eventually attempt to make some friends. I don't know about all that, but I do aim to be involved in the College Ministry there, Transitions and next Sunday I'm going to sign up for one of the two membership classes.
Ok so after church Jon and Keith rode back with me, and I went to have brunch. After brunch I had intended to take a little nap, but when I woke up after my alotted hour, I had a headache. I don't know how I WOKE UP with a headache, but it just happened, so naturally I pressed snooze and ended up sleeping until I had to wake up to go to work. As soon as I got to OMED for tutoring, even tho I was 5 mins early, this guy was WAITING for me and I ended up helpin him with his paper for an hour and a half out of the two hours I was there. I've been there for 7 Sundays now and I've only helped 3 people, but who's complaining? I dread the day that more than one person comes in at a time because I like to take a good look at people's papers and that can be time consuming. After the guy left, I had a half hour to kill, so I did a little studying. I left at 7:30 on the dot and I was going to go eat before my meeting at 8, but it took like 10 minutes to find a decent parking space, plus Woody's wasn't serving anything worth eating anyway (as usual). Why do meal plans cost so much and the food still sucks? I didn't gain weight last year because the food here doesn't make you want to continue eating eat...definitely doesn't want to make you OVEREAT it. Thanksgiving is going to make up for all the wrong that has been done to me by GT Dining though...lol. Grandma and my aunts are going to come through with that turkey, stuffing, gumbo and everything else like whoa! I can't wait.
The hall council meeting at 8 was cool. I couldn't find a resident to bring to represent our section and Sharma tried to call me out on that point, but I'm not trying to be Miss UltraAnnoying PL and try to DRAG residents to something I'm not really trying to go to in the first place. What am I supposed to do, walk around cracking a whip and saying YOU HAVE TO GO! I think not. I guess the best I can do is let the girls know that all their hall council money is being spent and there is nothing they can do about it because they are never there. The meeting ended at 8:30 and I just knew I was going to go eat at Woody's, but I went in and came right back out with an ice cream cone. The guy looked at me like ummm, what are you doing? I was like, man there is nothin up there to eat.
I went to visit and take care of my person. He had a headache and hadn't eaten so I went made him some sandwiches, which is a breakthru for me cuz I'm so selfish that I don't normally do things like that, even for my family. Maybe I'm maturing a little, quien sabe? We had a long interesting talk that was really cool, but also accounts for my delirium now (as it is Monday morning and I'm writing for yesterday).

Friendship is Essential to the Soul
WHATS UP?!
OK... so far today I have done absolutely nothing besides wake up, go to breakfast, be a meanie (cuz I get that way sometimes), talk to my best friend forever on the phone, and then sleep and watch TV. Nothing "special" but it was awesome and relaxing.
I love talking to Cicely on the phone (she's my best friend by the way) cuz we hardly ever talk to each other ever since I started college last year and we've been far away from each other. Regardless of all of this though, every time we talk, we can always pick up where we left off and I know she will always be my peeps. I just feel so blessed to have a friend like her and when I whine to my parents about feeling like an outcast sometimes, they just remind me of Cicely. Not everyone is fortunate to have even ONE friend they consider family. Not only is she family, but her family is family to me and that is so awesome. Sometimes I think she is one of the major reasons God led my family to Georgia in the middle of 8th grade (because I used to always wonder why? why me?). I know now though. Moving here set me up for a lot of good experiences and I KNOW I definitely would NOT be here @ Tech.... (to be continued I'm not finished yet).
Ok there's more....(the continuation)
Ahhh there is NOTHING quite like spending over an hour in Woodruff and inevitably smelling like food upon your exit. I went in there with Hui, Arnab and some dude and I ended up sitting with them as well as Daniela, Yandra and Margarita (they are all from South America). I met Daniela on the tech shuttle the second week of school. They're cool peeps. Its nice to be exposed to a different culture and learn about more than what you have come to know as "normal." I'm hoping that we can all hang out sometime. I want to become fluent in Spanish, and I believe being around them would be something positive. If I don't get a job as CA next year, I want to go live in the Spanish language house because immersion is a good way to learn. That would be a good transition from my possible trip to Spain this summer. I'm so excited about everything right now, I hope this continues.
As of now, I'm not altogether sure about how my night's going to play out. I got invited to the mall a little while ago, but I didn't want to spend my last 2 dollars on MARTA to walk around the mall and not buy anything cuz I'm broke...lol. I was invited to go to the club all expenses paid, but I'm just not feelin crunck. I haven't been feelin all that hype recently anyway. I have just been in a mellow mood, on the chill tip. I guess maybe I've gotten the partyness (like that's a word) out of my system. Sometimes I feel like the lone ranger. I'm starting to like being alone now I guess. It's such a big contrast to last year when I used to want to be around people ALL the time. I find myself wanting my own room and I shop alone now because I have learned the value of time for yourself. It's nice to not have to worry about what stores the people you are with want to go to, or wonder if you're spending too much time in one place. Also, you can pick up the clothes you want to pick up vs the ones your friends would tell you to PUT DOWN. Don't get me wrong, I like shoppin with mah girls too, but when's the last time Crystal has been able to just go shopping and actually BUY something?

Pinkest Rose...
My person surprised me with a rose when he came to pick me up tonight. It was soo sweet. I was beyond suprised.
He's such a sweetheart. We rented Spirited Away (after some persuasion and whining by me). That movie is WEIRD, but I think everyone should see it, because it's definitely interesting.

Ok, so its actually November first now because its soooo late, but its still HALLOWEEN night dangit...
Today was a great day...because it was Friday of course, but there are other reasons. Well I almost slept thru my spanish class at 9 this morning because I didn't want to press snooze and interrupt my roomie. I messed around and went back to sleep after the alarm went off...only to wake up when it was actually time for me to ummm LEAVE. That was cool tho. I had the situation under control and I was still there well ahead of class time (just like the nerd I can be). After class, I came back to the dorm and decided to eat breakfast...ended up stayin in Woodies wayyyy too long because I love to talk but its cool. I had no pressing assignments today...a big difference from the two stupid tests yesterday. When I got back to my room I talked on the computer for 30 mins and I tried to take a nap, which I figured I'd be able to do cuz roomie was asleep, but then I was awakened by a lot of noise, so I was like *bleep* it and I got redressed and left for main campus (cuz the closer I get to the building for my 2 o clock class, the more likely I am to decide to go.)Instead of going to class tho, I actually meet up with my person and ended up chillin. I've come to the conclusion that I will never again make it to Black History class on Fridays that papers aren't due (we have 2 more papers to go. woo!)
Ok, here's where the awesomeness began. I was going to go to Destinations( Christ-related hip hop and spoken word at Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church that happens every last Friday of every month. Check it out!), but I didn't feel like driving and I was able to catch a ride with someone ( I mean I was going to go anyway though). So me and 'Los get to Destinations and I start getting this awful sinus headache and there was no medicine and the music was really loud, but I was crunck anyway because I knew that I was doing something positive just by being there and I just felt like I was going to get somethings (spiritually) out of it... plus my person was in it, so I had to see my folk.
The whole show was amazing, moving, thought provoking, and my person did a GREAT job. I was really impressed. Mad props to how he represented God. Everyone who spoke or rapped or sang had something inspiring and important to say. I'm so glad I was able to be there, and the next time I go I'm going to have to drive so I can share it with more of my friends.
After the show I got back to the room, but found that I needed to escape immediately cuz I didn't feel like being here just yet and I wanted to drive...so I IMed my girl Q and we just rode out for no reason, but ended up makin a few stops so we weren't necessarily aimless...lol, just started out with no destination.
The best part of tonight was seeing my person again :o) I almost forgot I had a headache (not really) but it wasn't as crucial. I have sooo much to thank God for. He is doing BIG things in my life and I am sooo grateful.
PLing-
I have to say that at first I wasn't feeling the PL thing, but I'm starting to love my job (and hopefully get a little better at this thing). Its fun checking up on residents and being here to help. Seeing Beachy, Andi, Sharonda and Drea makes me wish I'd been in a Freshman experience dorm last year...and its so nice to see happy smiling freshman faces every day. You guys show me what's good about FE and slowly yall are teaching me how to be a PL. Daily I'm reminded of why I wanted to be a PL (and not b/c of free housing cuz that's not exactly what I get). I'm stealing Hui's word...things are so Beautimous, life is just Peachy all the way and I feel like I'm growing closer to God and that's really all that matters.
I just want to send love to my fam and peeps: mom, dad, Gabby (Pikachu), dad, Shamonique, Cicely, Erin, Nina, Kelvin, Sean, Hui, Mika and Micah because I know that if I ever need something you got my back and I'm glad to have you in my life and I want you to know that I got your back too. I Thank God for you guys everyday.
The start of a Journal
Well, here's my journal. I don't have much to write today. I want to say that I'm a happy chica. I failed one of my two tests today (badly), but I know everything is going to be ok and I have learned the value of studying even farther in advance than what you THINK is advance. Life is good though. That's all I wanna say. HW time!
