(continued from "Viajaré a la casa de mi Padre hoy")
"Thank you, Buh-bye now, Take care, Come back and fly with us again!"
That's what I heard when I stepped off the plane today and into the New Orleans Airport terminal. Why did those adieus become such tradition? Do the flight attendants really mean it, or are they numbed after saying each phrase its 20th time. Once would be enough for me. That's just a thought though
anyways...
Well, after another blessed year, here I am again in the Big Easy, the Crescent City, that 504 New Orleans. When I stepped off the plane, my sister had on a vintage sweater similar to mine with the colorful stripes (which caught me unwanted attention later on today) and the zipper, but since mine was more loose, it was more recognizant of those sweaters Mister Rogers used to wear on his show :) The car ride from the airport to the house was long and quiet, almost uncomfortable. I didn't talk because I was worn out, maybe Dad picked up on that. Maybe he was tired too. I was a little disappointed when we got to the house and dad said he had to go back to work though. I guess i didn't get to mourn for too long because my stepmom said that magic word, "mall." Me, Shamonique (my sis) and Tiffany all ate spaghetti with meatballs and just before dinner I gave Shamonique her sweet 16 bday, even though she will be turning 17 a year and a day after Christmas (Jan 26 for you slow ones...). I got her a prayer box necklace (shaped like a cross) and a ring that looks princess-inspired. Both of the articles were symbolic, so we had a brief sister to sister chat about those.
(Side note: Before I left home, my mom and stepdad gave me my Christmas presents and among them was a prayer box necklace that matched the one I gave to Shamonique...ok, so mom kinda bought Shamonique's too, it's all good. I bought the ring at least...lol.)
Ok, so I went shopping with Shamonique and her friend Tiffany, but I ended up being by myself because I was looking for different stuff. I bought myself two really sophisticated looking knit turtlenecks (beige and red) and then I bought Alicia Key's new CD THEN I bought 2 presents: For my dad, I bought the original Matrix DVD and for my stepmom I bought a cute knit turtleneck with cute little knit designs. I hope that she will like it. Unfortunately, I was in the mall wayyyy too long, cuz I am sick and I shouldn't even be awake now. I shoulda been had my behind in the bed. I need some self control. But I dragged around the mall even though I was/am worn out. I'm bloated, so every pair of pants I tried on and every time I looked in the mirror today I was like "Ewww...BLEH look AT the FLAB!!!" My person says I'm tripping, but it's Atkins for me next semester. I don't know if I can do it though, I love carbs way too much. After we got back to the house, Dad was here, and he took me and Shamonique to get poboys (we both got shrimp) and of course I threw in two Pralines (my favoritest candy EVER... if you don't know about them YOU need to FIND OUT). The rest of the evening is virtually eventless though, basically watching TV and talking online.
A highlight...
I would like to take this opportunity to talk about my person... I just want to thank him for continually showing me more about Jesus and making me accountable for my actions and showing me what it means to be a Christian through his active examples, for supporting me in everything but always making sure that I'm leaning on God and not him, for always being sweet to me and putting up with my ways (especially my random edginess) and encouraging me and "calling me out" when necessary... You have been a blessing to me.
