I pasted this on my friend's Xanga as a comment in response to a comment:
"Here is a quote from the previous comment: "I can say that he is the best thing has ever happened to you and will continue to be."
Although I do hold *Dude* in high esteem (he's a good guy), I have to disagree that he is the best thing that has or will ever happen to my homegirl, because Jesus has called her unto Himself. If we as humans place all of our hopes and expectations in a mere human, meaning not God, we will ultimately find life disappointing and purposeless. Disappointing because people will ALWAYS let us down. Purposeless because our purpose can only be found in our creator God. We have to learn to put our expectations in Him (Lord Jesus) and not other people.
I can say with full assurance that neither he nor any other person is the best thing that has ever happened or will happen to her, because she has God. A statement like "I can say that he is the best thing has ever happened to you and will continue to be." should only be said about Jesus Christ, not a human being, a creation of God. When we accept Jesus and choose to walk with him He opens our eyes and we realize that our best and brightest days are still ahead of us. Everyday is the first day of the best days of our lives. To say that the best thing has happened to someone at the age of 21 leaves a bleak outlook on life because what is there to look for if you can never surpass the greatness of one point of your life?
To the person that made the comment, I only hope that you do not believe that the best thing in your life has already happened to you because I know that God has a master plan for your life as well. I do pray you are not offended because that was not my intent at all.
Love wins."
I guess the commenter just hit on a subject that's been on my heart today. At church this morning the praise team sang "The Best is Yet to Come." They just talked about how the full potential of our lives in Christ. No matter how great our past and present have been, the future will be so much better. That is not to say that we won't suffer and experience trials, but God has great things in store for us and the closer we get to Him they will only increase in wonderfulness(yeah I know it's not a word, but you get me).
